First established as Nederlandsch-Indische Bierbrouwerijen. The company began its commercial operations on 21 November 1931 in Surabaya Brewery and produced Java Bier which was the origins of Bir Bintang.
Heineken Group became the main shareholder of the company that was renames Heineken Indische Bierbrouwerijen Maatchhappij.
After the World War II, the brewery resumed operation and introduced Heineken Beer in the market.
